![]() At first, I couldn’t find them, but then found them as “Subtitle Track 3” There are English Subtitles available on the DVD. “Camille Claudel 1915” (1 hour 31 minutes) ![]() It won’t please everyone but I though it was an excellent film. ![]() This is a slow, intense, contemplative film. Those feelings whilst watching “Camille Claudel 1915” for the most part is due to Juliette Binoche’s incredible performance and to the directing from Bruno Dumont, and as well as all the credit that should go to the rest of the people involved in the film, special praise should go to the supporting cast who were also brilliant. Whilst what happened to her, happened a century ago, when attitudes towards and the relevance of women, attitudes and relevance of religion, and attitudes regarding health were different than today, what I watched on screen was, none the less, moving and shocking. “Camille Claudel 1915” is loosely based on known facts and correspondence about Camille Claudel. Now that is not a criticism of the film whatsoever, but rather a description of emotions I felt for what the film had shown me and told me of the life of Camille Claudel - or more specifically, that part of her life that is shown in the film. ![]() After I’d seen the film and had read that information I was left feeling frustrated and even angry (if that isn’t putting it too strongly) at what I had just seen. “Camille Claudel 1915” has information printed on screen at the beginning and also at the end.
